The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) is made up of five members that include councilors and members-at-large that provide decision-making and planning advisory functions for the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) is entrusted by Town Council to:
  • Make decisions on development permits.
    • Land Use Bylaw 11/11 LU Section 2.3 states that the MPC issues decisions on all development permit applications for discretionary uses and permitted uses with variances.
  • Make decisions on all subdivision applications.
  • Act as a planning advisory body on such things as planning documents, planning policy, annexations, and amendments.

The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) can direct the development officer to review, research, and make recommendations on any planning and development matter, and the MPC can make recommendations to council on planning and development matters.
