Canoeing
is a wonderful relaxing activity for all ages. Among the many
places to canoe, there are numerous canoe rental services as
well as tour guides to make sure you get the most out of your
trip safely.
For fishing information please refer to the” Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations” available where fishing licenses are sold. Available at the Visitor Centre is Barry Mitchell’s 2011 Alberta Fishing Guide for $9.95 as well as Alberta’s Trout Highway – Fishing the Forestry Trunk Road for $34.95
- Has Designated Swimming Spots
Abraham Lake – Use caution when boating due to submerged rock ledges and violent cross currents and winds. Fishing is good near the shore. Located along highway 11 about 25km west of Nordegg.
- Burnstick Lake – Located south and west of Caroline. Municipal campground at east end.
- Cow Lake – Located on Highway 752, about 15km south of Rocky Mountain House. Campground and boat launch on the west end.
- Crimson Lake – Travel west of Rocky 8 km on Hwy 11 and 6 km north on Crimson Lake Road. Campground, visitor Center, scheduled activities, walking trails, playground, and fast food concession No fishing.
- Fish Lake – Travel 5km west of Nordegg on Hwy 11, then 2km south. Campground. Electric motors only.
- Goldeye Lake – Travel 11km West of Nordegg on highway 11, then 2km north. Campground. Electric motors only.
- Jackfish Lake – Small Lake adjacent to Hwy 11 about 60 km west of Rocky Mountain House. Campground. Max boat speed 12km/h.
- Medicine Lake – Travel about 50km north of Rocky on Alder Flats Road (Hwy 22) then east to lake. Campground on the east side. Max boat speed 12km/hr.
- Mitchell Lake – Take highway 752 to the Everdale Road turnoff, continue on Everdale Road until you come to an intersection where the pavement ends, turn right, watch for signs. Road to lake turns left across a rocky pasture. Five walk-in campsites. Electric motors only.
- Phyllis Lake – Travel west of Caroline on Hwy 54, cross the Clearwater, then 6 km farther west, about 3 km north and 2km west. Electric motor only.
- Strubel Lake – Highway 11 east from Rocky Mtn. House to Hwy 22 south 10 km, west 10km and south 2 km. Watch for signs. Day use site. Campground 2 km west of Strachan on Hwy 752. Max boat speed 12km/hr.
- Swan Lake – Travel about 35 km west of Caroline via Hwy 54 and 591, then 20km north on good gravel road. Watch for sign.
- Twin Lakes – West of Rocky Mtn. House 8 km on Hwy 11 and 2 km north on Crimson Lake Road. Campground. Max boat speed 12km/h.

Rents canoes and kayaks. They do not offer a shuttle service but rents a trailer to trasport the canoes and kayaks. The club also offers canoe and kayak lessons. You must purchase a membership to the canoe club in order to rent.

Located: 19 km west of Nordegg, make a right turn before Crescent Falls access.
Inflatable fishing boats are equipped with trolling motor, net, paddles and life jackets. Canoes are equipped with paddles, net and life jackets. You must bring your own fishing gear. Boats are delivered to Goldeye Lake which has up to 51b. Rainbow Trout or to Fish Lake which holds up to 10lb. Rainbow Trout.
