Fishing Locations West on Hwy 11

Abraham Lake – Fishing best at the mouth of the N. Saskatchewan, Cline, and Tershishner. Best from August to freeze up. Use caution when boating due to submerged rock ledges, violent winds. Fish near shore. Located along highway 11 about 25 km west of Nordegg.
Allstones Lake – A small high mountain lake that you can hike into. 10 km trail begins where Hwy 11 crosses Allstones Creek at Abraham Lake about 35 km west on Nordegg.
Baptiste River – Travel 32 km west from Rocky Mountain House on Hwy 11, then 10 km north on the Sunchild Road. Be sure to fish upstream of the Sunchild Reserve.
Bighorn River – Is a North Saskatchewan Tributary. Crossed by Hwy 11 about 24 km west of Nordegg. Campground day use sites at Crescent falls.
Blackstone River – Crossed by the Forestry Trunk Road about 22 km north of Nordegg. Road parallels river for about 10 km, crosses where Chungo Creek enters. Campground located at Beaver Flats on the Chungo Road.
Brewster Creek – Joins the Baptiste River at south boundary of Sunchild Reserve NW of Rocky Mountain House.
Brown Creek – A Blackstone River tributary. Crossed by the Trunk Road about 35 km north of Nordegg Campground. Blackstone catch and release regulations apply.
Chamber Creek – Crossed by Hwy 11 about 32 kms west of RMH. Campground 1km west of bridge.
Chungo Creek – A Blackstone river tributary. Crossed by the Trunk Road about 32 km North of Nordegg. Campground. Blackstone catch and release regulations apply.
Cline River – Crossed by Hwy 11 about 50 km west of Nordegg. Enters Abraham Lake, best if fished upstream above canyon, which is about a 2 hr hike from Hwy 11.
Colt Creek – An Upper Nordegg Tributary. Travel about 13 km north of Highway 11 on the Harlech Road(which leaves Hwy 11 at the Shunda Creek Campground) then west on the oil roads.
Coral Lake – Located near headwaters of Coral Cr. North of Cline River. Requires a long tough hike up the Coral Creek Valley with many creek crossings. Trailhead located where Hwy 11 crosses the Cline River about 50 km west of Nordegg. Open August 1 to October 31.
Goldeye Lake – Travel 11 km west of Nordegg on Hwy 11, and then 2 km north. Campground and electric boat motors only.
Harlech Pond – Located about 7 km east of Nordegg on Hwy 11, just south of the highway.
Jackfish Lake – Is a small lake adjacent to Hwy 11 about 60 km west of RMH. Campground. Max boat speed 12 km/h.
Lake of the Falls – To access this lake you have to do a tough 20 km hike. Trailhead located where Hwy 11 crosses the Cline River about 50 km west of Nordegg.
Landslide Lake – About a 15 km hike up Cline River and Entry Creek from the trailhead on Hwy 11 about 50 km west of Nordegg.
Lookout Creek – A Blackstone Tributary. Crossed by the Chungo Road about 14 km upstream of the junction with the Trunk Road north of Nordegg. Parallels the Chungo Road for several km before joining Blackstone River at Beaver Flats campground. Blackstone catch and release applies.
Nordegg Ponds (East and West) – Located about 3 km (east pond) and 5 km (west pond) north of Nordegg on the Forestry Trunk Road.
Nordegg River – Travel about 32 km west of Rocky on Hwy 11 to the Sunchild Road, then 40 km north. Upstream and down are mostly wilderness. Open Apr 1 to Oct 31.
Obstruction Lakes – Do a tough 2-day hike up Coral Creek from the Cline River trailhead on North Job Lake.
Rocky Children’s Pond – Located on the outskirts of Rocky Mountain House. Turn left after the bridge heading west on Hwy 11. No boats allowed, Children only.
Shunda Creek – Travel west on Hwy 11 from Rocky. The highway first crosses Shunda creek about 16 km east of Nordegg at the Harlech Campground. It is crossed by 5 more bridge and access is plentiful. No motors allowed on pond at beaver dam day use site.
Shunda Lake – Travel 2 km west of Nordegg on Hwy 11, then 2 km SW. Campground available. Electric motors only.
Twin Lakes – Travel west of Rocky 7 km on Hwy 11 and 1 km north on Hwy 756. Campground available. Max boat speed 12 km/h.

Fishing Locations South of Rocky Mountain House
Alford Lake – Travel about 25 km west of Caroline via Hwy 54 and 591, and then north. Watch for campground sign at Tay River. Electric motors only.
Baseline Creek – Turn south off Hwy 752 at Strachan south of Rocky Mountain House, take first road south after a long bend in the road (4 km south of Stachan and just before crossing the centre fork of Prairie Creek) then 6 or 7 km south of where Baseline creek joins Vetch creek to form the south fork of Prairie Creek.
Birch Lake – Travel 3 km west of Caroline on Hwy 54 to the Burntstick Lake turnoff (watch for sign) then 12 km south to oil road that heads west to within 100 meters of the lake.
Burntstick Lake – Located south and west of Caroline. Municipal Campground at east end.
Clearwater River – Enters the N. Saskatchewan At Rocky Mountain House. Crossed by Hwy 54 about 7 km west of Caroline, by Hwy 22 about 16 km south of RMH and parallel by Hwy 591 and Trunk Road for another 60 km upstream.
Cow Creek – Crossed by #752 about 16 km south of RMH just south of the Grandview Stage. The lower creek can be reached by good road west and north of Grandview Stage. Campground on Prairie Creek west of Strachan. 
Cow Lake – Located on Hwy 752, about 15 km south of RMH. Campground and boat launch on the west end.
Cripple Creek – Crossed by Trunk Road about 42 km south of Nordegg. Campground at Ram Falls. North Ram River catch and release regulations apply.
Cutoff Creek – Joins the Clearwater River south of Hwy 591 about 30 km west of the Tay River bridge. Travel SW on the road that leaves the Trunk Road at the east end of Seven Mile Flats just downstream of Seven Mile Creek Bridge.
Dry Creek – Just a small Creek that joins Lick Creek 2 km upstream of where Lick Creek meets Prairie Creek. Access appears to be by seismic and bush trails only. Located about 6 km north of the junction of the Strachan gas plant road and Hwy 752 west of Strachan.
Fall Creek – A Ram River tributary. Travel about 55 km SW of Rocky on Hwy 752 to the Baseline Forestry Cabin, then 10 km NW on Trout Creek Road. Lower Ram River regulations apply.
Gap Lake – Ice fishing is best in December. Take Hwy 752 SW of Rocky to Prairie Creek Campground, then 55 km NW. Winter road access via access muskeg flat; summer access by foot or ATV. No motor boats allowed.
Hummingbird Creek – A Ram River tributary. Travel about 55 km south of Nordegg on the Forestry Trunk Road, then 8 km west on Onion Lake Road. Campground available at Ram Falls. Upper Ram regulations apply.
Limestone Creek – Enters Clearwater River from the South about 60 km SW of Ricinus on Hwy 591 just south of Corkscrew Mountain.
Medicine Lake – Main source of the Medicine River. Travel about 50 km north of Rocky on Hwy 22, then east to the lake. Campground on east side. Max boat speed is 12 km/h.
Mitchell Lake - Travel 10 km south on Hwy 22 and 10 km west on the Prairie Creek Road. Road to lake turns left across rocky pasture. Day use site. Electric motor boats only.
Nice and Easy Creek – A north Ram River tributary. Travel about 25 km south of Rocky Mountain House on Hwy 752 to Prairie Creek Campground west of Strachan, then about 75 km on the North Fork Prairie Creek Road to the north Ram River. The creek joins here. North Ram River catch and release regulations apply.
North Ram River – Crossed by Trunk Road about 30 km south of Nordegg. Campground at bridge.

Onion Lake – Joins Hummingbird Cr. About 4 km upstream of where the Hummingbird Creek joins Ram River. Take the Trunk Road about 55 km south of Nordegg to the Onion Lake road, then west to the creek. Campground at Ram Falls. Upper Ram River regulations apply.
Phyllis Lake – Travel west of Caroline on Hwy 54, cross the Clearwater River, then 6 km farther west, about 3 km north, and 2 km west. Electric motor only.
Prairie Creek (North and Centre Forks) – Take Hwy 752 about 22 kms south and west from Rocky to Strachan, where the road crosses Prairie Creek. North and Centre forks join west of Strachan. The North Fork Prairie Creek Road follows the north fork of the creek; Hwy 752 follows the centre fork. Campgrounds located 2 km and 13 km west of Strachan. Catch and Release regulations apply from the North Fork Prairie Creek Road downstream to the Clearwater River.
Ram River South – The Trunk Road crosses Ram River about 60 km south of Nordegg. Campground at Ram Falls.
Strubel Lake – Travel south 10 km on Hwy 22, west 10 km on the Prairie Creek Road and then south 2 km. Day use site. Campground 2 km west of Strachan on Hwy 752. Max boat speed 12 km/h.
Swan Lake – Travel about 35 km west of Caroline via Hwy 54 and 591, then 20 km north on a good gravel road. Watch for the sign. Max boat speed 12 km/h.
