Recreation Master Plan

Help shape the future of recreation in Rocky Mountain House!

The draft Recreation Master Plan is now available for public feedback!

Please review the draft of this important guiding document and provide your feedback with the online feedback survey.

The current Regional Recreation Master Plan was completed in 2017. Many of the objectives and priorities outlined in the plan have been achieved. The new Recreation Master Plan will be a guiding document which will aid Council and Administration in decision making for potential new projects in the next 10 years. Council's Strategic Plan 2024-2026 identifies in the Social Sustainability Goals that the Recreation Master Plan will be updated.

The Town of Rocky Mountain House contracted Expedition Management Consulting Ltd to engage the community and develop a new Recreation Master Plan. Residents are encouraged to participate in this important process.

The current Regional Recreation Master Plan (2017 Recreation Master Plan) is a ten-year plan developed to guide the Rocky Mountain House Region’s allocation of services and overcome challenges identified by the community in the parks and recreation system.

Significant facility updates completed between 2016 - 2021:

  • Rocky Spray Park 2021
  • New ice plant for twin arenas and new ice resurfacer 2020
  • North Saskatchewan River Park covered grandstands 2019
  • Helen Hunley Park (log picnic shelter and David Thompson statue) 2019
  • Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre updates 2018-2020
  • Rocky Regional Recreation Centre 2016

Considering this and shifts in community priorities, a Recreation Survey was distributed in the community in 2021, in order to refocus the priorities established in 2017.
