The Town is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual for the position of Legislative Clerk. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. This person will be part of a great team in providing legislative services to the Rocky Mountain House.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. The Legislative Clerk performs significant duties to the operation of the Town such as:

  • Development of bylaws and policies and maintain bylaw master registry,
  • Act as Returning Officer in connection with elections and plebiscites,
  • Serve as a Commissioner for Oaths,
  • Prepare official correspondence,
  • Act as the FOIP Coordinator,
  • Respond to public inquiries relating to general executive and legislative assistance matters,
  • Minutes for Council Meetings.

As a key player in our team you will have or be willing to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Administration professional and/or legal degree or diploma.
  • Five years’ experience in an office environment, preferably government.
  • FOIP and SDAB training or ability to achieve the certifications.
  • Commissioner of Oaths or ability to obtain certification.
  • Ability to maintain excellent public and staff relations.

The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. This person will be part of a great team in providing good public relations, lifeguarding, quality instruction, water chemistry readings, procedures of cash register and janitorial duties at the Aquatic Centre.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. Living in Rocky Mountain House you can experience live arts, concerts, all sports or belong to one of the multiple community organizations. Town amenities include the Christenson Sports and Wellness Centre, the Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre, skateboard park, ball diamonds, parks, extensive trail system and playgrounds. As a key player in our team you will have or willing to achieve the following qualifications: 

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 3 months experience working at the Rocky Mountain House pool or equivalent experience
  • Must conduct a one-hour staff training in-service
  • National Lifeguard, Swim & Lifesaving Instructor Certifications.
  • Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification is an asset.
  • Aquatic Emergency Care or other workplace approved Standard First Aid and CPR/AED
  • WHIMIS  and OH&S training
  • Jr. lifeguard experience
  • Cash experience

The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. This person will be part of a great team in providing friendly, courteous and professional service by assisting customers with a variety of functions including, membership registration, program registration and general phone, e-mail, internet inquiries to the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. Living in Rocky Mountain House you can experience live arts, concerts, all sports or belong to one of the multiple community organizations. Town amenities include the Christenson Sports and Wellness Centre, the Credit Union Co-op Aquatic Centre, skateboard park, ball diamonds, parks, extensive trail system and playgrounds. The Guest Services Clerk provides friendly, courteous and professional service by assisting customers with a variety of functions including, membership registration, program registration and most general phone, e-mail, internet inquiries.  The individual actively promotes the Christenson Sports & Wellness Centre’s services by identifying customer needs, recognizing moments of opportunity, providing value-added advice, and providing the appropriate solution to meet the customer requests.   

Specific duties include:

  • Provide administrative support functions to the Guest Services Supervisor in a variety of areas.
  • Develops and fosters customer relationships through professional, courteous, and efficient service for all basic customer service requests by means such as phone, e-mail or in person.
  • Ensures the efficient and accurate completion of all basic customer transaction requests such as membership sales, program registration and facility rental contracts. 
  • Monitors membership card check in procedures.
  • Process cash sales according to current policies, ensure accurate and efficient balancing of cash and terminal. 
  • Resolves customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints either directly or by referring to another staff member as required.
  • Utilizes effective listening and communication skills to identify “Problems/Needs/Opportunities”.
  • Enters and retrieves information from various established databases.
  • Dispatches centre employees and provides information to patrons during emergencies.
  • Ensures appropriate use of facility including the fitness centre by patrons and guests and enforces facility guidelines and rules.
  • Maintains high level of safe work practices by adhering to the Towns occupational health and safety regulations and provides feedback on safe work practices that pertain to the position.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Strong communication skills (oral), listening skills, ability to ask questions.
  • Ability to set priorities and balance a number of projects at the same time.
  • Independent decision-making, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Accurate and efficient in completion of duties.
  • High School, post-secondary preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively without direct supervision.
  • Previous customer service and cash handling experience required.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to interact with others in an effective manner.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, email and experience with the Internet.
  • First Aid/CPR is required.
  • Available to work variety of shifts including days, evenings & weekends.
