The Town of Rocky Mountain House is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual for the position of a summer bylaw student. 

The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result-driven. This person will be part of a great team and will be responsible for bylaw investigations and enforcement; including but not limited to animal control, parking, and clean-up orders. During your employment, you will learn valuable skills and work with our experienced Community Peace Officers. 

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep of the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. As a key player on our team, you will have or willing to achieve the following qualifications: 

  • Enrolled in a full time Criminal Justice program. 
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Minimum Class 5). Must provide current driver's abstract upon employment. 
  • Must maintain a clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check authorized by the RCMP or local police agency. 
  • Must provide current transcript and one instructor’s recommendation/reference. 
  • Must be willing to do shift work including weekends / holidays. 
  • First Aid / CPR certification is required. 
  • Knowledge of computers / software – Microsoft Office.

The Town is seeking an energetic, dynamic individual for the position of Financial Admin Clerk. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and results-driven. This person will be part of a great team answering telephone and in-person inquires regarding utilities, property taxes, animal licensing, accounts receivable, etc. and directing calls to the appropriate person. Responsible for accurately cash receipting payments received, balance daily cash receipts and assists with preparation of the bank deposits. Responsible for accounts receivable function which includes accurately preparing invoicing batches, maintaining accounts receivable documentation, liaising with customers and other departments as needed, applying finance charges, and monitoring accounts receivable subledgers.

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma.
  • Business/Accounting professional certification or experience.
  • Five years’ experience in an office environment, preferably government.
  • Ability to work in a busy office and deal with customers either on the phone or in person in a professional manner.
  • Experience taking payments and reconciling cash is required.
  • Must be able to function effectively in a computerized environment with a broad base knowledge of computer applications. 
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication in English and ability to communicate well with all ages and ethnic groups. 
  • Basic Computer Knowledge. (Will be trained on Recreation Booking and Point of Sale system)
  • Minimum 15 years of age.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED preferred.  
  • Able to assist in an emergency associated with the Aquatic Centre.
  • Desire to pursue a career as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Certifications may be an asset.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.

The Town is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual for the position of Legislative Assistant. Reporting to the Legislative Coordinator, the Legislative Assistant is responsible for providing confidential, administrative support to the Legislative Department, Town Council and the Chief Administrative Officer.

  • Strong Customer service and Communication skills, both written and verbal;  ability to maintain ongoing communication to anticipate and prevent potential problems, develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with Council, staff and other stakeholders.
  • The hours worked are contingent upon the requirements of the position and may include overtime as to the nature of the position.

This person will be part of a great team in ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers from ages 5-12 for the Summer Day Camp program.

Specific duties include:

  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of campers from ages 5-12 for the Summer Day Camp program.
  • Develops and fosters relationships through professional, courteous, and efficient service to parents and campers alike.
  • Plan and supervise recreational activities for campers.
  • Supervise campers during before and after care.
  • Communicate in a professional and timely manner with parents, campers, and staff.
  • Adhere to all camp processes and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

 This position is a full-time 40-hours per week for 9 weeks, contract position from June 26 - August 30, 2024 (Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM)
