The Town is seeking energetic, dynamic individual for the position of Guest Services Clerk. The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. This person will be part of a great team in providing friendly, courteous and professional service by assisting customers with a variety of functions including, membership registration, program registration and general phone, e-mail, internet inquiries to the Recreation Department.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. Living in Rocky Mountain House you can experience live arts, concerts, all sports or belong to one of the multiple community organizations. Town amenities include the Rocky Regional Recreation Centre, the Co-operative Aquatic Centre, skateboard park, ball diamonds, parks, extensive trail system and playgrounds. 

Specific duties include:

  • Provide administrative support functions to the Recreation Services Manager and Guest Services Coordinator.
  • Develops and fosters customer relationships through professional, courteous, and efficient service for all basic customer service requests by means such as phone, e-mail or in person.
  • Ensures the efficient and accurate completion of all basic customer transaction requests such as membership sales, program registration and facility rental contracts. 
  • Monitors membership card check in procedures.
  • Process cash sales according to current policies, ensure accurate and efficient balancing of cash and terminal. 
  • Resolves customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints either directly or by referring to another staff member as required.
  • Utilizes effective listening and communication skills to identify “Problems/Needs/Opportunities”.
  • Enters and retrieves information from various established databases.
  • Ensures appropriate use of facility by patrons and guests and enforces facility guidelines and rules.
  • Maintains high level of safe work practices by adhering to the Towns occupational health and safety regulations and provides feedback on safe work practices that pertain to the position.
  • Assist with facility promotions, public inquiries, and public relations.
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required.

  • Teamwork and cooperation.
  • Strong communication skills (oral), listening skills, ability to ask questions.
  • Ability to set priorities and balance a number of projects at the same time.
  • Independent decision-making, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Accurate and efficient in completion of duties.
  • High School, post-secondary preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Accounting experience an asset. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to interact with others in an effective manner.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Word, Excel, email and experience with the internet.
  • First Aid/CPR is required.
  • Ability to works days, evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will be strongly devoted to public service, be team orientated, innovative and result driven. This person will be part of a great team in providing good public relations, lifeguarding, quality instruction, water chemistry readings, procedures of cash register and janitorial duties at the Aquatic Centre.

You will be working in a vibrant community of 6,800 at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains and outdoor adventure. We have all the amenities and more. As a key player in our team you will have or be willing to achieve the following qualifications: 

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 3 months experience working at the Rocky Mountain House pool or equivalent experience
  • Must conduct a one-hour staff training in-service
  • National Lifeguard, Swim & Lifesaving Instructor Certifications.
  • Government of Alberta-approved Intermediate First Aid.
  • WHMIS  and OH&S training
  • Jr. lifeguard experience
  • Cash experience

This person will be part of a great team in providing front desk reception to patrons of the Aquatic Centre including cashier work and maintaining the front lobby and office.

As a key player in our team you will have or be willing to achieve the following qualifications:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication in English and ability to communicate well with all ages and backgrounds. 
  • Basic Computer Knowledge. (Will be trained on Recreation Booking and Point of Sale system)
  • Minimum 15 years of age.
  • Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED preferred.  
  • Able to assist in an emergency associated with the Aquatic Centre.
  • Desire to pursue a career as a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor Certifications may be an asset.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends.

We are looking for the following qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in a related field, such as law enforcement or public administration
  • Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Police Officer or Community Peace Officer Level I
  • Criminal record Check and Background Security Check. Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance must be maintained
  •  Strong administrative skills
  • Working knowledge and understanding of municipal bylaws, Provincial and Canadian justice systems, laws and statutes
  • Demonstrated leadership and excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong customer service focus, planning, organizational and decision-making skills and a detail-oriented work style
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to excel in high-pressure situations, identify opportunities for improvement, and manage change.

As a key member of our team, you will either have or be willing to obtain the following qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related discipline or previous law enforcement experience as a Community Peace Officer is an asset.
  • Must meet all requirements of Alberta Justice Solicitor General to acquire Level 1 Community Peace Officer Appointment. 
  • Must have previous CPO level 1 experience within the last 3 years. Or attended CPOIP for Community Peace Officer Level 1 Training.
  • Must have valid PARE or equivalent upon start date.   
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Minimum Class 5). Must provide current drivers abstract upon employment.
  • Must maintain a clear criminal record authorized by the R.C.M.P. or local police agency.
  • Previous experience in Bylaw Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and/or Animal Control Enforcement is an asset. 
  • Animal handling training or certification is an asset. 
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) or equivalent is preferred (mandatory completion upon employment)
  • Must be willing to do shift work including weekends / holidays.
  • Radar / Laser certification is required.
  • PPCT certification (Pressure Point Control Tactics) or equivalent control tactics is required.
  • OC Spray / Baton certification is required. 
  • First Aid / CPR certification is required.
  • Knowledge of computers / software – Microsoft Office / MOVES/ROADS / Incident Report systems (report exec) is an asset.
