Tax Instalment Payment Plan

The Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) allows you to spread out your property taxes equally over the calendar year (January to December) rather than making a single annual payment.

   Pay in monthly instalments

   Avoid late penalties

   Stress-free & simple

Property owners may enroll in the Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP) offered by the Town of Rocky Mountain House as a hassle-free method for paying property taxes through monthly automatic bank withdrawals.

Once we've received your completed application, a fixed monthly amount will be automatically debited from your bank account on the last business day of the month.

Opting for this payment plan ensures that your property taxes are consistently paid in-full each year, eliminating the risk of incurring any late-payment penalties.

Please complete the TIPP Pre-Authorized Debit Application Form. You will have to include a blank cheque marked VOID or a bank deposit form.

Return completed forms by email to propertytaxes@trmh.ca or in-person to:

Town Office
5116-50 Avenue
Rocky Mountain House, AB T4T 1B2

You can enroll in the TIPP program anytime.

  • Enrolling prior to January 10 ensures the full 12 monthly payments (January - December) for the current tax year.
  • Enrolling prior to July 10 ensures no late-payment penalties are applied to your tax account.

January to May monthly payments are based on the prior year's taxes divided by the months remaining in the calendar year. For instance, if you enroll in March your monthly payment is calculated as 1/10 of last year's tax amount.

In June, the monthly instalment withdrawal amount will be adjusted for the remaining seven months of the year based on the new annual tax amount. You will receive a notice that will show the new monthly instalment withdrawal amount.

Payments are withdrawn on the last business day of the month. View the TIPP Payment Schedule for 2026.

No. The TIPP program will automatically renew each year in January.

If a payment is not honoured by your bank (non-sufficient funds, stop payment, account closure, etc.), the Town's NSF fee will be applied to your tax account. If a second payment is returned in the same calendar year, the account may be removed from the TIPP program. All unpaid taxes become due and payable, and will be subject to penalties.

If you have property taxes in arrears, you may join TIPP by entering into a Tax Agreement with the Town for monthly repayment. Please contact the Property Tax Coordinator for details.

If you wish to change your banking information, or other personal details for a current TIPP enrollment, please use the TIPP Change of Details Form. Banking information must be changed in advance of your next withdrawal date.

The registered owner must provide written notification to cancel enrollment. An ownership change does not automatically cancel TIPP enrollment.

You may revoke your authorization at any time, however you must provide written notification by the 10th of the effective month. Please complete the TIPP Cancellation Form.
